Description
This
kit
allows
you
to
select
your
rebuild
components
to
your
exact
specification,
using
high
quality
brands
across
the
board.
By
default,
the
most
basic
kit
will
include
a
genuine
Nissan
OEM
complete
gasket
kit
(plus
the
"missing"
gaskets
Nissan
normally
excludes)
and
pistons
of
your
choice,
with
options
to
add
rods,
bearings,
an
oil
pump,
and
MLS
head
gaskets.
Our
most
popular
options
are
Wiseco
pistons
with
Eagle
rods,
and
this
combination
is
typically
good
to
around
800whp
(with
supporting
mods).
The
"Twin
Turbo"
options
maintain
the
stock
TT
compression
ratio
of
~8.6:1,
and
the
Non-Turbo
options
are
10.5:1.
The
construction
and
strength
is
otherwise
the
same,
and
the
"NA"
pistons
can
be
used
in
high
compression
boost
applications,
but
we
ONLY
recommend
this
option
if
you
are
planning
on
running
race
gas
or
E85
at
all
times.
Please
note
that
when
switching
to
forged
pistons,
TT
guys
will
need
to
either
bend
the
factory
oil
squirter
jets
to
clear
the
new
pistons,
or
swap
to
NA
jets.
For
bearings,
ACL
and
Clevite
are
both
high
quality
tri-metal
options,
with
ACL
providing
more
options
for
oversize
bearings
to
compensate
for
damage
to
existing
bearing
journals.
The
Nissan
OEM
Head
Gaskets
are
exceptionally
strong
and
typically
good
for
over
650whp.
MLS
head
gaskets
from
Cometic
and
Tomei
are
available
as
options
as
well.
MLS
head
gaskets
are
far
stronger
than
stock,
but
do
require
very
precise
machine
surfacing
on
the
block
and
heads.
Tomei
is
generally
considered
the
superior
option,
as
they
have
a
sealed
ring
around
the
combustion
chamber
for
added
strength.
While
the
OEM
oil
pumps
rarely
fail,
most
opt
to
replace
it
as
"cheap
insurance"
during
rebuilds,
especially
if
the
existing
engine
failed
catastrophically.
For
NA
guys,
the
factory
oil
pump
was
discontinued
by
Nissan,
but
the
TT
pump
can
be
used.
In
this
case,
some
may
opt
to
reduce
the
number
of
shims
inside
the
regulator
spring
assembly
for
the
pump,
this
is
often
considered
optional.
In
general,
we
strongly
recommend
having
your
block,
crank,
and
rods
(if
re-using
stock)
inspected
by
a
qualified
machine
shop
to
determine
which
components
must
be
replaced,
as
well
as
the
minimum
piston
bore
size
and
bearing
journal
size
you
can
run.
These
will
differ
for
each
engine,
based
on
wear
and/or
any
pre-existing
damage.
Proper
assembly
ALWAYS
needs
to
be
performed
by
a
qualified
machine
shop
with
the
correct
equipment;
it
cannot
be
done
in
a
normal
garage
with
hand
tools.
