Upper Fuel Gallery

The Upper Fuel Gallery (sometimes called the Upper Fuel Rail) is an assembly which consists of three hard lines welded together. Two of the hard lines carry fuel (to and from the fuel rail) and the third, smaller line, carries vacuum signal to the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
The Upper Fuel Gallery should not be confused with the Fuel Rail.

Function

The Upper Fuel Gallery provides a secure, stable passageway for fuel to travel from the fuel filter to the fuel dampener, and from the fuel pressure regulator back to the edge of the engine bay, where another hard line carries excess fuel back to the fuel tank.

Removal

Some advocate the removal of the Upper Fuel Gallery as a means to simplify the engine bay and reduce the number of clamped fuel lines (and thus, potential leaks). While this is most commonly done during the installation of aftermarket fuel rails (such as the 300Degree rail which has connectors at the back, instead of the top), many have removed the fuel gallery in the presence of an otherwise factory setup.
Others argue, however, that while removal of the fuel gallery reduces the number of points for a potential leak, bypassing it with rubber hoses creates more danger by exposing rubber hoses to various points where they can "rub through" and cause a fuel leak.
