main
bearings
should
be
replaced
any
time
you
rebuild
or
upgrade
the
internals
of
an
engine,
and
the
VQ37VHR
is
no
exception.
Nissan
manufactures
various
grades
to
suit
each
main
journal
to
ensure
tolerances
are
absolutely
perfect.
Rather
than
using
a
standard
size,
you
will
need
to
determine
the
grade
necessary
for
each
journal
to
order,
using
the
guide
below.
Sold
in
paired
halves,
4x
required
per
vehicle.
TO
DETERMINE
OEM
MAIN
BEARING
GRADES
Check
the
stamps
in
the
"valley"
between
banks
on
the
rear
of
the
block,
and
take
note
of
the
main
grade
letters
stamped
for
each
main
journal.
Write
each
grade
letter
down
and
keep
track
of
their
position
(journals
1,
2,
3,
and
4). |

the
crankshaft
counterweight
and
take
note
of
the
grade
letters
stamped
for
each
main
journal
(A,
B,
C,
D).
Write
each
grade
letter
down
and
keep
track
of
their
position
(journals
1,
2,
3,
and
4). |

Using
the
lookup
table
below,
compare
the
letter
stamped
on
the
block
(from
Step
1)
to
the
letter
stamped
on
the
crank
(Step
2).
This
will
give
you
each
main
journal
bearing's
grade
(0
through
7).
Write
down
each
bearing
grade,
keeping
track
of
each
grade's
position
(journals
1,
2,
3,
and
4). |
