Description
The
Z32's
transmission
was
ahead
of
its
time,
with
double-cone
synchronizers
to
facilitate
faster
shifting.
However,
these
synchros
were
also
soft
and
prone
to
failure,
especially
as
years
of
abuse
and
fast
shifting
take
their
toll.
This
leads
to
crunching
and
grinding
between
gears,
especially
in
2nd
and
4th
gears.
In
1998,
Nissan
revised
the
transmission
design
slightly
to
use
more
durable
synchronizers.
Not
only
will
they
last
longer,
but
shifting
is
buttery
smooth,
so
it's
more
enjoyable
to
drive!
