370Z Track Build

We picked up a previously-wrecked 370Z Anniversary Edition a few months ago just for a project car. The car had been rear-ended, so we had the collision damage repaired by Pitstop, and also swapped in some basic upgrades. At that time, it received BC Racing Coilovers, several SPL suspension components, some 15mm spacers (just until we get wider wheels to throw on it), PPE Long-tube Headers, and a Motordyne Shockwave exhaust. It got a few other things here and there, and later also received a Stillen Gen3 Intake. The point here wasn’t to make gobs of power, just to be a slight upgrade over stock where things could obviously be improved.

As this was an Anniversary Edition, it already came with (red) Akebono brakes, so we’ll be keeping those and likely just updating pads, rotors, and lines. A lot is still up in the air at this point! So after getting it back from body repair, we set about the next step of carefully tearing everything out of the car.

Here’s what it looked like when we got it. The primary driver airbag hadn’t deployed, but the seat’s airbag did.

Then… everything just sort of exploded.

Then the car went down to FutureFab, where a cage was designed and built by John & Adam. Once we got the car back, we sent it back down to Pitstop to have the bars painted. Then we got it back here.

Dave spent some time reinstalling the necessary harnesses and what bits of the interior were needed. Oh, and we also took care of that blown seat airbag while we were in there.

And some finishing touches.

Dave also made a quick video showing off the Shockwave. This really doesn’t do it justice. This exhaust is loud. I jokingly tell customers that it’s beyond loud, it’s earth-shattering. Having it paired up with the PPE Headers certainly doesn’t hurt, too.

At this point, the car still needs a bit of work and some finishing touches. It will receive a new steering wheel, some other small interior bits, and it also needs wheels, the windshield reinstalled, A-pillar finishers, etc. Overall, it’s getting pretty close, so hopefully it will be tearing up Wild Horse Pass soon!
