These
turbos
come
with
brand
new
CHRAs
(Center
Housing
Rotating
Assemblies),
while
re-using
original
compressor
and
turbine
housings
and
wastegate
actuators,
which
are
carefully
inspected
and
refurbished
by
Turbos
Direct
before
use.
This
is
a
great
alternative
to
buying
brand
new
turbos
outright,
as
the
only
part
that
typically
goes
bad
(the
CHRA)
is
replaced
with
a
new
unit,
while
the
housings
are
re-used
to
keep
costs
down.

Compressor
Wheel:
Turbos
Direct
offers
billet
compressor
wheels
for
stock
turbos.
These
retain
the
same
diameter
of
the
stock
wheel,
but
the
billet
construction
allows
for
a
thinner
root
of
wheel.
This,
along
with
changes
to
the
overall
shape
of
the
blades,
allows
for
greater
blade
surface
area
while
slightly
lightening
the
compressor
wheel,
so
spool
response
is
the
same,
if
not
faster,
than
stock,
while
providing
a
10-15%
increase
in
output. |
Automatic
vs
Manual
Factory
turbos
differ
slightly
between
AT
and
MT
vehicles.
AT
vehicles
had
a
.54
AR
on
the
exhaust
housing,
and
MT
had
a
.63
AR.
This
means
the
AT's
exhaust
(turbine)
housing
is
slightly
smaller
in
diameter,
and
produces
less
power,
but
spools
slightly
faster.
Please
note:
this
is
the
AR
number
cast
into
the
turbine
(hot)
side,
near
the
4-bolt
rectangular
flange
where
the
turbo
meets
the
manifold.
The
".48
A/R"
cast
into
the
compressor
housing
is
not
relevant.
Core
Charge:
You
have
the
option
of
either
sending
your
original
turbos
to
be
rebuilt
with
new
CHRAs,
or
paying
the
core
charge
up
front.
Please
note
that
if
you
send
your
cores
in
first,
they
are
of
course
subject
to
inspection,
but
luckily
this
build
only
requires
the
housings
and
actuators
to
be
good.
If
your
cores
are
damaged
beyond
usability,
we
will
contact
you
right
away.
If
you
choose
to
pay
the
core
charge,
we
will
send
you
the
next
available
set,
but
please
be
aware
this
is
subject
to
other
customers
sending
back
their
cores,
so
there
will
be
an
unknown
wait
time
on
this.
Once
you
receive
the
new
set,
you
do
have
the
option
of
sending
your
original
turbos
back
for
a
refund
on
the
core
charge,
but
again
this
is
subject
to
inspection
on
your
incoming
cores.
Please
keep
in
mind,
if
you
order
Automatic
Turbos,
you
can
return
either
Manual
or
Automatic
Cores
to
receive
full
credit.
If
you
order
Manuals
turbos,
we
can
only
accept
Manual
Cores
back.
We
are
currently
out
of
Cores
to
build,
so
if
you
decide
to
wait
on
the
cores,
there
is
no
ETA
Time
frame.
If
we
send
your
cores
in,
and
they
are
in
rebuild-able
condition,
we
can
knock
them
in
in
2-3
days.
