Description
This
part
of
the
VTC
mechanism
is
used
on
both
the
late
model
VQ35DE
(RevUp
variant)
as
well
as
the
VQ35HR
engines.
While
Nissan
has
never
sold
them
separately
for
the
Z
&
G,
they
did
offer
a
service
campaign
for
the
same
issue
on
the
Maxima,
and
we
found
through
customer
feedback
that
it
happens
to
be
the
exact
same
part.
The
attached
TSB
Instructions
are
for
the
Maxima,
the
procedure
is
largely
the
same
for
the
Z
&
G.
Please
note
that
we
have
also
learned
that
often
times
the
magnet
retarders
are
not
the
issue,
and
in
fact
the
VTC
over-advance
or
under-advance
codes
are
often
caused
by
the
Oil
Gallery
Gaskets
failing,
which
prevents
adequate
oil
pressure
from
reaching
the
heads.
