Old
style
PTUs
are
known
for
going
bad;
causing
all
sorts
of
poor
running
conditions
or
even
shutting
down
completely,
these
problems
were
so
bad
in
fact
that
Nissan
had
a
campaign
to
update
them
to
the
Version
2
style
with
an
updated
PTU
and
patch
harness.
While
this
was
nice
and
a
really
quick
procedure
(for
warranty
tech
pay
on
their
part),
there
was
still
an
issue
with
these
parts....
the
old
style
connectors
on
the
original
harness
aren't
sealed
so
really
bad
corrosion
at
this
point
in
the
ignition
circuit
is
really
common
and
often
causes
the
same
running
issues,
or
worse
not
running
at
all.
Sometimes
the
connections
can
simply
be
cleaned
from
the
connector,
but
often
problems
will
persist
because
the
corrosion
has
worked
its
way
into
the
harness.
The
good
news
is
that
the
connection
on
the
new
style
PTU
is
sealed,
if
the
harness
doesn't
have
corrosion
in
the
wires
eliminating
the
old
style
connection
on
the
patch
harness
is
the
common
way
to
rid
yourself
of
these
pesky
problem.
Often
though
the
harness
has
corrosion
in
it
and
the
labor
investment
isn't
worth
the
fight
for
a
fix
that
may
still
cause
problems
in
the
future.
Now
you
can
get
a
high
quality
solution
with
or
without
wires
to
repair
this
problem
or
to
custom
build
your
own
harness,
and
for
well
under
half
the
cost
of
the
OEM
plug
and
play
harness
that
isn't
sealed.
If
you
are
looking
for
the
best
spark
and
performance
out
of
your
Z,
eliminating
corrosion
anywhere
in
the
ignition
circuit
should
be
one
of
your
top
priorities.
