The
Nissan
oil
pump
in
itself
is
quite
remarkable.
Most
people
probably
do
not
realize
that
the
pump
is
not
only
pumping
oil,
it
is
also
scavenging
it.
The
pump
incorporates
some
of
the
latest
oil
pump
rotor
designs
that
we
see
in
some
of
the
aftermarket
wet
and
dry
sump
pumps.
Nissan
has
obviously
put
alot
of
time
into
its
design.
It
appears
that
at
some
point
during
the
design
process
Nissan
realized
that
they
had
to
scale
back
on
costs.
Nissan
had
gone
about
90%
with
the
machining
of
the
parts
and
said
to
hell
with
it
for
the
rest.
The
scavenge
gearset
just
like
the
pumping
gearset
has
a
small
squared
off
section
off
the
radius
that
does
not
want
to
mesh
together.
If
anyone
has
felt
one
of
these
in
hand,
you
will
feel
a
small
bind
every
"x"
amount
of
degrees.
This
is
the
od
of
the
inner
gear
not
wanting
to
mesh
with
the
small
squared
area
of
the
id
of
the
outer
gear.
(Squared
area
only
on
outer
gears)
On
the
Scavenge
side
of
the
pump,
there
is
a
small
area
360
degrees
in
which
the
inner
gear
is
abrading
a
small
ridge
on
the
housing.
It
is
from
facing
of
the
gear
and
then
not
deburring
it
then
after.
It
is
not
on
both
sides
of
the
gear,
but
does
need
to
be
taken
care
of.
