The Lower Intake to Head Gasket (whew) is a metal/rubber gasket installed between the lower intake manifold and cylinder head.

Function

The Lower Intake to Head Gasket creates a seal between the two parts after which it's named. It is made of metal and rubber, as this part of the intake comes after the fuel rail, and the gasket must be capable of maintaining a seal without deteriorating due to the fuel being carried past. They can generally be re-used, but will slowly flatten and deteriorate with age, and should be replaced when they deform.
